He is the Director, Agency Development of Addicon Logistics Management with HQ in Singapore and manages the subsidiaries in China, Vietnam and Cambodia.

He was also the Chairman of ASEAN Federation of Forwarders Association (AFFA). During his Chairmanship, he contributed to the establishment of the Articles of the ASEAN Framework Agreement for Multimodal Transport.

Training has been Mr Stanley Lim’s passion. He was one of the pioneers involved in development of training programmes for freight and logistics personnel to upgrade their skills in the challenging Industry. In 1990, 1991 and 1996, Mr Lim was the Resource Trainer for UN ESCAP (United Nations Economic, and Social Commission for the Asia Pacific).

Back home, Mr Stanley Lim lectures the Diploma in Integrated Logistics Management and Diploma in International Freight Management with The Logistics Academy (TLA), a training arm of SLA. He was one of the Resource Speakers for Training of Trainers programmes in Dalian, China, Yangon, Myanmar and Taipei, Taiwan.

Mr Lim has been in the logistics industry for more than 40 years, after serving 2 years in the Singapore Customs (formerly Customs and Excise Department). He contributed immensely to this Industry for many years. He had clocked at least 20 years of teaching in the Customs Training School for the Customs Staff on the Logistics Industry Practices. As an active Trainer, he spoke in many Conferences, Seminars, Workshops and Congresses. To name a few, he represented FIATA in Tehran, UNECE/ECO Workshop on EATL, East Asia Transport Links and the ASEM Transport Workshop in Vilnius, Lithuania. He also participated in the APEC Customs Single Window and Security Workshops held in Singapore in 2009. Recently, he represented FIATA as one of the Speakers of Symposium on UN Managing Sanctions Risk in the Maritime Transportation Sector organised by the Australian Government in September 2014.

In recognition of his valuable contributions, he was awarded with the Public Service Award (Title of PBM) by the President of the Republic of Singapore in 2001. Mr Lim was awarded the Public Service Star (Title of BBM) by the President of the Republic of Singapore during Singapore’s 55^th National Day in 2020.

He has just been re-elected the Senior Vice-President of International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) for the 3^rd term. He had been the Chairman of FIATA Advisory Body Vocational Training (ABVT) from 2005 to 2019 which oversees National Associations’ training programs in over 118 countries, assisting to setup and qualifying the standards of international freight forwarding & logistics training materials/curriculums, and the eventual FIATA Validation of their national training programs. He was chairman of the Working Group on Education & Training under that ASEAN Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (AFFA).

As a lead global master-trainer for the FIATA Foundation Vocational Training (FFVT) since 2001, Thomas represented the UNCTAD, UNESCAP, ADB, AFFA, FIATA-ABVT/FFVT and many international organizations as resource person and master-lecturer to develop and deliver the Training-of-the-Trainers (TOT) and numerous capacity-building programs spanning Latin America/Mercosur, Middle East/Africa, E.U./Russia, Asia/CAREC/ASEAN, and the Pacific since the past 20 years.

Since 2004, he has been as a senior Steering Group Member and Panel-Judge of the FIATA-Thru Transport Club (TT Club) ‘Young International Freight Forwarders’ Awards’ (YIFFY), now renamed as the ‘Young Logistics Professional’ (YLP) Awards – an international competition to promote and motivate young logistics professionals’ competition.

He is regularly lecturing at the Singapore Management University (SMU) for the national Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) on international trade for industry professionals who seeks to be educated and trained in cross-functional roles to enhance their employability in different industry sectors. He covers Supply Chain & Procurement Management, International Trade Documentation, IOT for SCM (e-Commerce/LMF), Global Supply Chain Safety & Security and Dangerous Goods/Hazardous Substance Handling. He is also currently a Mentor to a group of SMU industry-learners on the PCP Programme. He is also lecturing as a global Adjunct Professor for Golden Gate University (GGU) worldwide based in San Francisco (USA).

He sits in the Singapore Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Multidiscipline Engineering Division Advisory Committee (MEDAC) and has been the Deputy Chairman of the Business & Services Academic Advisory Committee with the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Singapore, assisting in the development, review, and qualification of the logistics technical training curriculums, in preparing the pool of Business and Logistics’ Management students for the future entrants to the logistics industry.

He represents the Association in the WSG’s Manufacturing Generic Skills Validation Council (MGSVC) that periodically review and advises the WDA on relevant trends and practices of international and local business communities including the logistics industry as well as current knowledge and skills gaps.

Thomas contributed to the SLA-launched book (September 2006) – “The Practitioner’s Definitive Guide: Multimodal Transport” published by the Singapore National Printers for the logistics industry, which has now published its 3rd Edition and “Managing Logistics and Supply Chain Challenges – Singapore’s Insights and Perspectives” published by Cengage in collaboration with SIM University.

He is humbled with the recognition on the “Global Educational Award 2017” for the numerous Training-the-Trainers (TOT) programmes in Africa for more than 20 Years (1996-2017) bestowed upon him from the Chairman of the African Union (AU), Mr. Maculay Kalu and the Secretary-General of the AU, Dr Beatrice Njenga. On 2nd August 2017, Thomas received another coveted and prestigious national ‘SkillsFuture Fellowships Inaugural Awards’ from the President of Singapore, Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam, and the Singapore Minister for Education, Mr. Ong Yi Kung. This ‘SkillsFuture Fellowships Awards’ is a tripartite initiative, the highest national award that recognizes Singapore Citizens who have acquired deep skills through significant work experiences industries or job functions. Individuals must be champions of lifelong learning and deeply committed to contributing to the skills development of others – ‘Celebrating Mastery, Inspiring Passions’.

As a practiced academia for over 38 years, Dr Thomas Sim can impart valuable industry knowledge to learners.

After graduation with a business degree, he started his career in Agility, one of the top global third-party logistics service provider. During his private sector days as a logistics manager, he managed the logistics for global brands such as KFC, Simmons Mattresses and Steelcase furniture. Max led logistics planning and operations for international events such as the Athens Olympics 2004, Beijing Olympics and Commonwealth Games New Delhi 2010.

As a registered consultant for Asian Development Bank, World Bank, U.S. Agency for International Aid, Max travelled extensively to Central Asia and the Caucasus to perform studies and recommendations on trade, transport and transit. Recently, he led a nine person team in Pakistan to formulate the National Freight and Logistics Policy for Pakistan, planned and organized trade shows for Afghanistan and completed a diagnostic study on trade facilitation in Georgia. In July 2019, with the support of International Trade Centre, Max conducted a logistics workshop in Baku and presented findings to policy makers and private enterprises. In May 2020, Max spoke at the ASAN Global Web Forum organized by the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Panel 3 on International Transport and Logistics.

Currently Max serves in the Editorial Board for Trans-Logistics Kazakhstan, a national transport and logistics magazine in Kazakhstan, as well as an advisor to the CAREC Federation of Carriers and Forwarders Association (CFCFA).
