Attach and Train Programme
The Career Preview for Attach-and-Train (AnT) for Logistics cum Job Fair, jointly organised by Workforce Singapore (WSG) and Singapore Logistics Association (SLA), was held at Lifelong Learning Institute on 15 Aug 2018. The Association was appointed as the Programme Manager for Attach-and-Train (AnT) for Logistics programme in 2017. The trainees go through a 2-week training and up to 50-week on-the-job training (OJT) with the host companies in logistics. During or upon completion of the programme, trainees might be converted to full-time employment depending on their suitability and vacancy on hand.
At the recent Career Preview session Mr Thomas Sim, SkillsFuture Career Advisor & SLA Second Deputy Chairman shared on the logistics landscape with Mrs Chua Li Tzer, SLA Manager, Corporate & Industry Development giving an overview of the AnT programme.
A video clip highlighting a success story of AnT trainee – Vincent who was attached to ST Logistics in 2017 as Logistics Executive and is now fully employed with ST Logistics as System Specialist in the logistic sector. He spent major part of his career as IT support in hospitality sector. He noticed that his company was restructuring to cut cost and decided to be proactive by participating in the AnT programme. He moved into ST Logistics with open mind to learn his new role. Besides IT, he also had project management skill and was assigned to help develop an e-procurement platform. By cross-skilling, Vincent made himself valuable to his employer. During the attachment, he was offered full-time employment and successfully transit into a new role of a System Specialist in the logistic sector.
At the Job Fair, more than 140 job seekers and 9 logistics companies participated in the spot interview for the coming AnT commencing from 15 October 2018 to 14 October 2019 and they will be trained by The Logistics Academy :
